Interesting subject matter. I like how the king is the focus in a small depth of field, making the 'slaves' part of the scenery. I think the subject matter would have been more enticing if the phrase "'Freedom is Slavery' do not stray or be punished" was not included. These words tell the viewer what to think about the piece and don't allow them to figure out what it means for themselves. This shallowness usually creates a barrier between the viewer and the piece. Because the piece is saying "this is what I am" instead of "figure out what I am". I find the small writing "1984" on the bottom right draws the viewer to the novel without the phrase. So those who have read/know about 1984 will get the reference.
